This Baked Spaghetti from the Fraîche Table meal plan, is a total comfort food classic and made with only a handful of ingredients. Consider this recipe your weeknight hero!

With minimal ingredients and prep time, this dish is perfect for any night of the week and is a guaranteed crowd pleaser. Since the recipes calls for very few ingredients, use a high-quality store-bought marinara sauce for this recipe, or by all means try your hand at making your own!

Easy Weeknight Dinners

This casserole-style version of classic spaghetti and tomato sauce is one of my top hearty weeknight dinners. It is such a satisfying dish without heaps of effort. I snagged this recipe from my Fraîche Table meal plan, which is home to thousands (literally) of healthy weekday breakfast, lunches and dinners. There’s even a Baked Spaghetti Squash version of this recipe for a lower carb option! Not a member? Start your free trial today.

How to Make Baked Spaghetti

Baked Spaghetti is so easy to make! Simply prepare the sauce, toss with your spaghetti and bake until golden and bubbly. The cheese on top gets golden and crusty making for amazing added texture! Tip: cook your spaghetti al dente, as the noodles do cook a little bit more in the oven.

Something great about this recipe is that you can add in all kinds of goodness to the sauce. Add in extra veggies like diced mushrooms, onions or chopped spinach. If you want to use meatballs instead of ground, these Sneaky Mommy Meatballs work beautifully (just cook them before adding them to the sauce)!

What Should I Serve With Baked Spaghetti?

This recipe is perfect for those who are looking for a hearty and comforting meal that can be made in no time. It’s a great option for a family dinner or to impress guests! Serve it with a crisp side salad, veggies or garlic bread (might I suggest the Green Garlic Bread in our cookbook). Looking to go the extra mile? This Roasted Garlic Caesar would be dynamite or this Homemade Focaccia will wow everyone (including yourself once you find out how crazy easy it is to make).

Baked Spaghetti

This Baked Spaghetti from the Fraîche Table meal plan, is a total comfort food classic and made with only a handful of ingredients. Consider this recipe your weeknight hero!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground (chicken, beef, turkey or veggie)
  • 1 finely grated, zucchini (unpeeled)
  • 600 mL jar marinara sauce (or make your own)
  • 400 g spaghetti noodles
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
  • fresh basil, to garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 F and grease a deep 10″ cast-iron pan or baking dish of similar size.

  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of the pasta water, drain, and set aside.

  3. In a large frying pan, lightly brown the ground over medium-high heat, around 5-7 minutes (add a drizzle of oil if you are using veggie ground or a very lean ground). If your ground has excess fat, drain or pat dry with a paper towel.

  4. Stir in the zucchini and cook until soft, around 3-4 minutes. Stir in the marinara sauce and season with salt and pepper to taste.

  5. Toss the cooked spaghetti with the sauce and add a splash of the reserved pasta water if needed to loosen the pasta. Transfer the pasta to the cast-iron pan or baking dish. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese and Parmesan on top and bake for 15 – 20 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden. Garnish with basil if desired before serving.
